What to do when Reduz cannot obtain a usable transcript for a video.
Symptom: Reduz cannot obtain a usable transcript for the active video.
Likely causes
Section titled “Likely causes”- The video has no accessible caption track.
- The watch page has not finished loading or its content changed.
Fix it in this order
Section titled “Fix it in this order”- Refresh the watch page and wait for it to finish loading.
- Confirm captions are available on the video (the CC control).
- Invoke Reduz again.
- If there are still no captions, Reduz cannot summarize the video. Neither a provider key nor a YouTube Data API key makes missing captions available.
Keep your existing notes
Section titled “Keep your existing notes”A failed request does not remove local history. Your saved summaries stay in the browser until you clear them or uninstall the extension.
