What to do when Reduz cannot obtain enough readable text from a PDF.

Symptom: Reduz cannot obtain enough readable text from a PDF.

Likely causes

The PDF is an image-only scan or uses complex encoding.
Origin access was denied, or the file is too large.

Fix it in this order

Check that text can be selected in the PDF. If nothing selects, it is an image-only scan.
If prompted, grant the requested origin access for the PDF.
Run OCR on an image-only scan first. If the file is very large, try a smaller document.
Retry Reduz on the readable document.

Keep your existing notes

A failed request does not remove local history. Your saved summaries stay in the browser until you clear them or uninstall the extension.
